Are we the last generation of people who have never darned a sock or knit item?
My grandmother and my great aunt passed taught me a lot of time to fix things, holes in knitted products including bloody socks, holes in reweave woollens, and patch the knees of pants, etc. .. I remember there was even a wooden "thing" that is inserted in the sock that is going to repair. I have not seen one in years .... I still have a basket of sewing my grandmother .... with all its wooden embroidery hoops and his tools darning. Darning EGGS! My brain scrambled old just could not think of the name of this "thing" for the life of me!
The "trick" is called a darning egg. Our society is so useless now. People throw things rather than to repair and deal with it.
