In DNA spooling, why is it important not to mix the alcohol with the buffer?

Since you will mix the 2 layers anyway when spooling, why don't you get a result if you mix the 2 layers?

You need the alcohol layer separate at first so that the DNA can precipitate out it in. The DNA is soluble in the aqueous/buffer layer, but will not be in the alcohol layer. When you take it out, the DNA will kinda look like clear/whitish snot.
