I need ideas for a project of the quilt for a school where students are not allowed to use needles. any ideas?

it is a public school in the Bronx, where I do a month of residence during their after school program. I am a mixed media artist, and have been quilting a lot lately and make textile arts. Program Coordinator think it would be great for the kids to do a community project quilt, but the children are in a sort of school at high risk and are not allowed to have needles. I'm trying to think of ways applies to use fabric glue, crayons and embellishments on squares of muslin and then maybe fix a square with another son-pass and son or something. Does anyone here have any experience or ideas for this kind of thing? my main concern is that children play and produce a finished product really great.
